about 8 waffles
These waffles are crisp, flavorful, and ideal for a Sunday morning wake-up call!
2 cups all purpose flour
1 t salt
4 t baking powder
2 T sugar
1 1/2 cups warm milk
1/3 cup canola oil
1/3 cup melted butter
2 eggs- room temperature
Put the flour, salt, baking powder, and sugar in a mixing bowl and mix well to combine.
In another bowl beat the eggs, and stir in the milk. Combine with the flour mixture. Add the oil and butter and beat until well blended..
Pour about 1/2 cup of batter into the very hot waffle iron. Bake until they are golden and crisp.
Serve with butter and real maple syrup
Waffles with fruit and berries- it’s best not to add it to the batter as it alters and spoil the waffles texture- they are best served on top or on the side.
Waffles with nuts- it’s best to add chopped nuts to waffles when they are nearly finished cooking- sprinkle evenly over the top and cook for another 30 seconds or so.
