CREAM CHEESE BROWNIES
For the brownie batter:
2 ounces unsweetened baking chocolate
1/4pound butter
2 eggs
1 cup sugar
2/3 cupflour
1/2teaspoon baking powder
1/2teaspoon salt
1/2 t vanilla
For the cream cheese batter:
8 oz cream cheese
1/3cupsugar
1 egg
1/4teaspoon vanilla extract
Pre- heat oven to 350 degrees. Butter a 8 inch square baking pan.
Combine softened cheese, 1/3 cup sugar, 1 egg and vanilla in a medium bowl. Mix until very smooth and creamy. Set aside.
Melt chocolate and butter. Cool. Beat 2 eggs, add them,1 cup sugar, and the vanilla to the chocolate mixture. Sift flour, baking powder and salt together. Add to chocolate mixture and blend well. Pour about 2/3 of the chocolate batter into greased 8" pan. Next add cheese mixture. Add the rest of the chocolate batter. Swirl the batter with a knife or spatula.
Bake for 35 minutes- or until edges are starting to brown and the center is just set.
Cut when cool into 1-1/2' squares. Yield: about 2 doz.
